And so it begins...

Once upon a time, way back in the early 2000’s I was a single mom who wanted to be there for her kids instead of at work all the time. But alas, I needed a paycheck to survive. Enter the internet. It was still new, and I jumped on the opportunity I saw there. I bought every book I could find, taught myself how to code, and BAM! a business was born. I began designing websites for small businesses. For several years, it did exactly as I had hoped. It provided a good living for myself and my kids and gave me a flexible schedule that allowed me to work from home while still being able to attend PTA meetings, sports, dance and all the kid activities a working mom sometimes must miss in order to pay the bills. I loved it, but in 2007 I closed the business and moved the family to Wyoming to pursue a life-long dream in agriculture.

Flash forward … I meet the man of my dreams. A local farmer who just happened to be single also. We became friends, years passed, and we eventually merged our dreams and families to become Lazy H Crown. For quite some time I worked a full-time job in town. But Lazy H Crown was growing, and it became harder and harder for me to juggle 40 hours a week for someone else along with all the hours needed to successfully run a growing farm business. By the fall of 2019 it was beginning to wear on me. I knew I needed a change but struggled with what the change should be. That is when I found Addie.

Addie Yoder (Grace & Growth with Addie | Facebook) is a life coach that I somehow tripped over in my social media travels. I only talked to Addie once, but in that one conversation she helped me see that I already knew what I wanted and needed to do. I just needed the courage to do it. (There are many reasons my courage was depleted, but that is a conversation for another day. Maybe). In the spring of 2020, I quit the job in town to focus on the farm. It took a few months to settle into that new role, but now I’m ready to spice it up by adding in a little of the old me too.

So here I am, taking the leap as the Country Duchess (Country Duchess | Facebook). I am excited for my future and the ability to share it with whoever wants to follow along!
